Retirement coaching

Retirement coaching is about personal planning for the future, providing an opportunity to take a step back and ask yourself how prepared you are for retirement.

What will retirement coaching involve?

Retirement is such a big step in your life – exciting and perhaps a little daunting. Leaving behind the structure of a working environment can be an unnerving experience.

There are so many options and choices you can make. As a qualified and trained coach-mentor I can work with you to plan your retirement, helping you to explore the lifestyle choices that are right for you and helping you create a satisfying and rewarding retirement.

When approaching retirement or any change of direction in our lives, it requires the same process of self-analysis and consultation as you would go through with a career change. With a trained coach you can look at all your options and discover what it is you really want. I can work with you to find out:

  • How you feel about retirement?
  • What do you want to do with your retirement?
  • Assessing what's really important to you now?
  • What are your expectations?
  • If your expectations match your partners?
  • What lifestyle changes you want / need to make?

This will help you to create a lifestyle that is fulfilling, purposeful and rewarding. By working together we can identify these factors and use them to create a new way of living. You have your ideas and expectations that are specific to you and it is through personal coaching from a trained professional that you will be able to obtain a clear picture of what you want from your retirement and ease the transition into this new way of life.

How many sessions will I need?

This is flexible and can range from around three to eight sessions. Each session usually lasts for an hour and can take place weekly, fortnightly or monthly (with email support between sessions). All sessions are strictly confidential.

Where will the sessions take place?

If your employer is providing these sessions they are usually held at your place of work. If not, they can be off-site at a venue that suits you. All that is required is a small meeting room where sessions can take place without interruption.

How much will it cost?

This will depend on what we will cover and the number of sessions you require. Please contact me for a no obligation, informal chat so that we can discuss the options open to you.

I can provide independent coach-mentoring sessions anywhere in the UK.

Please email me on liz@lizfreemancoaching.co.uk if you would like to request further details.

The transition from work to retirement can seem like a daunting process for many. However, you can help your retiring employees make a smoother transition into retirement by offering them access to one to one coaching. This will help them to prepare and plan for their retirement, making the most of the years ahead.

Large organisations have long recognised the benefits of offering pre-retirement courses to their staff. As an experienced coach-mentor I can work with your retiring employees, helping them to remain stress-free, effective and productive during the remainder of their employment with your organisation. This will also show your organisation’s continued support during this potentially difficult period of transition.

What does retirement coaching involve?

Retirement doesn't have to mean the end of working altogether. A different approach to work can play a vital role in retirement. By working together we can identify these factors and use them to create a way of planning a future that suits employers and employees.

As a retirement coach I can work with you and your employees to:

  • Obtain a clear picture of retirement and what that means for the individual
  • Ease the transition process
  • Resolve any issues or concerns prior to retirement
  • Prepare them to face the inevitable 'change' ahead
  • Pull together a plan that suits you, your employee and your organisation.

All coach-mentoring sessions are strictly confidential.

How will employees benefit from retirement coaching?

Your employees could spend 30 years or more in retirement - more than any other stage of their lives. This could offer huge opportunities to find a challenging, rewarding and satisfying way of life when they leave work. Pre-retirement coaching can help them plan for this effectively.

I can work with you and your employees to plan their retirement, helping them to explore the lifestyle choices that are right for them and helping them to create a satisfying and rewarding retirement after many years within a structured working environment.

How many sessions do you recommend?

The number of sessions needed is dependent on the individual, and can range from around three to eight sessions. This is totally flexible and can be tailored to suit the individual’s needs and the requirements of the organisation. Each session usually lasts for an hour and can take place weekly, fortnightly or monthly (with email support between sessions). All sessions are strictly confidential and we will agree beforehand what reporting functions we will adhere to.

Where will the sessions take place?

Coach-mentoring sessions are usually held on the employer's premises but this can be off-site if you prefer. All that is required is a small meeting room where sessions can take place in confidence and without interruption.

This will depend on the organisation and employee, and the number of sessions required. Please contact me for a no obligation, informal chat so that we can discuss the options open to you.
